The nature of the wrongdoing has not been released, and the Stamford Police Department will not be releasing the names of the officers as the investigation is ongoing. The four officers implicated have been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation.

“This is a hard time for the Stamford Police Department,” officials said in a statement. “As you may be aware we are in the midst of investigating four of our own members for alleged wrongdoing.”

“We understand that you have questions and concerns. We ask for your support and patience during this time,” the Department stated. “We pledge to be completely transparent but please understand that the process must run its course.

“This is an issue that was uncovered by our department and will be dealt with appropriately and full disclosure will be made to you. During this time you can continue to expect the great police services that this agency provides to this great city, its citizens, businesses and visitors.”
